The sounds of the city was like music to Naomi's ears, so foreign and exhilarating, it was like a forbidden fruit, hanging just out of reach.

The girl let out a depressed sigh as she hung from a tree branch high enough to look out over the bustling metropolis below her, she wanted to be part of it, but she could never break the code of her village.

Her name was Naomi, and she was a kunoichi, raised in a hidden village, all the way out in the wilderness and cut off from society. Children born in the village were forbidden to enter civilisation until they were old enough to take part in true shinobi work, such as assassinations.

Naomi turned her back on the city, causing her long white hair to blow gently in the breeze as she looked into the deep forest. With one last longing look at the city and it's people below, Naomi leapt and with almost superhuman speed, she bounded through the trees.

Naomi effortlessly jumped between the branches gracefully, she was so used to the trees around the village she didn't even have to look where she was going. Before she reported in to the village elder, she wanted to explore the forest a little bit more, it was after all one of the few freedoms she actually had.

As she moved through the dark wood though, she felt something strange. Naomi stopped moving and looked around, it didn't feel like a person, but it certainly felt like a powerful presence. Instinctively her gloved hand came down and gripped the hilt of the sword attached to her back.

Naomi cautiously dropped from the tree branches and observed her surroundings, she couldn't see or hear anything out of the ordinary, but the feeling was still there. Soon her crimson eyes fell on a seemingly ordinary oak tree, and suddenly the feeling felt more powerful then ever.

Naomi never took her eyes off of the tree as she carefully approached it, right hand still on the sword hilt. Soon enough she reached the tree, and was almost overwhelmed by the feeling.

Giving it a quick once over, Naomi couldn't see anything out of the ordinary, however soon enough she found some kind of hole in the trunk.

The hole in the trunk seemed just large enough for a human head to fit comfortably inside, however Naomi opted to reach inside of it with her left hand, and almost immediately her fingers touched something that did not feel like tree bark.

Naomi gripped the strange object and pulled on it, removing it from it's place in the tree, and bringing it out into the sunlight for all the world too see.

Clutched in Naomi's left hand was a mask, made of a ancient looking dark green wood, so musty and old it looked brown. Running down the 'face' of the mask was a long metal stripe with large rivets drilled into the metal.

Naomi noticed that the presence was even stronger, having grown so forceful her hands were slightly trembling as she held the mask. She couldn't help but turn the wooden object over in her hands, one of her passions was rare artefacts and treasures, and she was sure this mask was indeed rare.

The presence was powerful and constantly washing over her like waves as she stared into the back of the mask, there was a part of her that was telling the kunoichi to take the mask back to the village and show it to the elder, telling her it was her duty to do it.

But there was another voice, one telling her to put it on, telling her it would make everything right, telling her she could have her hearts desire.

Naomi was torn between duty and desire  the internal war seemed to never end, though finally she began to put the mask down, seemingly deciding to return to the village.

And then she suddenly slammed the mask onto her face.

The effect was instantaneous, the once inanimate mask sprang to life and roughly grabbed onto Naomi's face.

Naomi instantly regretted her spontaneous decision, and tried to rip off the mask, however it was futile, no matter how much she pulled and scratched, the mask wouldn't budge, and instead began to stretch out and cover her head.

The tendrils that sprouted from the mask roughly grabbed at Naomi's hair and scalp, and within seconds it had successfully encased her entire head.

Naomi let out a scream as she was suddenly pulled by a mysterious force, and transformed into a green and blue tornado, that twisted and turned ferociously as it moved in between the trees.

Amidst the sound of rushing wind Naomi's yells and cries could be heard, albeit heavily muffled. However soon enough her cries were gone, and within seconds there was a screeching sound, and the tornado vanished.

There, standing in the middle of the forest was a new girl, gone was Naomi's abundant supply of weapons, and gone was her kimono, instead this new girl wore a glamorous black dress, the neckline just low enough to hint at the wonders contained within, but leaving enough to the imagination to make the viewer wonder.

The hem of the dress came to an end just above the girls knees, maintaining the conservative, yet sexy look of the dress, and topped off with a pair of black dress shoes.

A smile appeared on Naomi's now bright green face as she looked down and eyed herself “Now this is more like it!” she declared, putting her hands on her hips “I feel so free, so unrestrained! Screw those old farts in the village, I'm a young lady, I should be free to go wherever I want” Naomi said.

And as soon as she finished speaking, Naomi entered an exaggerated running pose, and shot off so fast all that could be seen was a green and black blur.

Mere seconds later, back in the city Naomi had been observing previously, the door to a clothing superstore suddenly burst open, and in strolled the new Naomi.

To say the people in the store were surprised was an understatement, however none of them seemed capable of coherent thought, let alone speech.

Naomi moved over to one of the stunned store clerks and grabbed her hand roughly “Oh good, come help me” she said as she dragged the clerk off with her as she dashed towards the racks of girls clothes.

Soon enough the poor clerk was holding a metaphorical mountain of clothes in various sizes and colours, all the while Naomi made her way into the changing room, leaving her unwilling servant to try and hold up the stack all by herself.

Within seconds of entering the stall, Naomi came back out, her black dress was gone and was now replaced by an elegant looking black Kimono with a purple floral pattern. Naomi looked herself over in the mirror before finally speaking “Nah, way too formal and restrictive” she decided before stepping back into the changing room.

Seconds later she was back, her kimono replaced by a tight blue bikini. Naomi gave herself a once over, her red eyes taking in every detail “Hmm...It's got sex appeal, but I don't plan to go swimming” she concluded, once more entering the dressing room.

This time, once she came out, Naomi was dressed like a playboy bunny in a purple leotard, with black stockings “Too obvious...I like the ears though” she said, before moving back into the dressing room.

This pattern repeated for almost an hour, thankfully the store clerk found her almost unbearable load rapidly decreasing, till finally there were no more outfits left.

Naomi exited the changing room clutching a few outfits she'd decided she wanted, she motioned to the clerk again who followed Naomi as she wandered through the store, till she came to a display stand advertising the latest perfume.

Curious, Naomi picked up the bottle and sniffed it “What is this st-” she started to say, before she accidentally squeezed the trigger and sprayed herself in the face with the sweet smelling perfume.

Naomi dropped the bottle, which smashed on the floor, which seemed to snap the store clerk out of her haze. She looked at Naomi, then at the broken bottle on the floor, then back to Naomi.

“I trust you're going to pay for that” the clerk said sternly, causing Naomi to sweat.

“O-Of course!” she said as she fished around her dress, till finally she produced a small purple purse. Naomi opened the purse and a moth instantly flew out, leaving the inside completely empty and barren.

There was silence as Naomi looked into the empty purse, then looked at the clerk, then finally at all the clothes she'd decided to buy.

So with her complete lack of funds, Naomi did the first thing that came to mind.

She ran like a bat out of hell, straight out through the front door and triggering the alarm system.

Although in reality it was mere seconds, Naomi felt like she'd been running for months, barely aware of the familiar surroundings of the forest as she blazed through unhindered.

Until her head collided with the tree branch that is.

There was a loud yell as Naomi felt the branch hit her bright green forehead, and despite all her years of training as a kunoichi, she found herself tumbling uncontrollably.

It was while she was tumbling, that Naomi crashed into something much softer then a tree branch...Something that let out a loud yelp as the ninja crashed into it, sending the two crashing into the ground.

Naomi rubbed her head as she looked up and saw what she'd crashed into.

It was a boy, around her age, his hair pitch black, messy and short in contrast to her long elegant white hair, if his dress sense was anything to go by, he was either a shinobi, or he was in his pyjamas.

He had a bright red headband wrapped around his forehead, while beneath his light blue tunic he wore some kind of mesh shirt. His pants were a light red and he wore traditional shinobi sandals.

The boy rubbed his head “Ow” he said pitifully as he looked up at Naomi, his green eyes widening in shock.

He shot too his feet and pointed at the girl “Who are you!?” he demanded.

Naomi looked at him quizzically “I'm Naomi, and you are?” she asked, however the boy scoffed.

“The first rule of being a ninja is to never reveal your name! As if I, the great Tatsumi Kodora would fall for such a tactic” he said confidently.

However his confidence only lasted for a second, before he realised just what he'd said “Wait I mean” he started to say.

Naomi knew of the Kodora clan, they were part of a rival village to hers, she'd heard all members of the clan were strong, intelligent and deadly...This Tatsumi didn't seem to meet any of those criteria.

Naomi was snapped out of her thought process by Tatsumi drawing a kunai and holding it in front of him in a defensive stance “I recognise that white hair! You're part of the...What was it again?” he said to himself.

Naomi sighed, she didn't want to deal with this, she stood up and started to walk away, however a shuriken suddenly became embedded in a tree trunk close to her head.

“Hey! We're from rival clans!” Tatsumi whined “We're supposed to have an epic showdown in the shadows”.

“I don't want to though” Naomi said boredly as she tried to walk away again, however this time Tatsumi stood in front of her.

“I can't let you go, now that you know my name, come let us settle this!” Tatsumi cried as he dashed forward, kunai still in his hands.

Naomi smirked “Fine then, we'll play” she said before vanishing in a puff of smoke just as Tatsumi's strike would have landed.

Tatsumi sensed the approaching shuriken, and managed to back flip out of the way, just in time to avoid the tiny sharp stars as they hit the ground where he'd been standing.

Tatsumi looked up and saw Naomi standing on a tree branch above him, her arms crossed as she smirked down at him. Tatsumi was trying to keep his focus...But he could almost see up the green faced girls skirt...It was distracting.

Tatsumi leapt into the tree tops, giving chase to Naomi who started to jump backwards, not even looking where she was going as she jumped from branch to branch.

Tatsumi threw another barrage of shuriken at Naomi “Stand still!” he shouted.

Naomi smirked and stopped jumping “As you wish” she said as her sword appeared out of thin air in her right hand.

Naomi gently swung the blade a couple times, and the shuriken Tatsumi had thrown at her split apart, the fragments harmlessly flying past her.

“Fine then! If it's a sword fight you want” Tatsumi said as he drew his own blade, an ornately decorated weapon that caused Naomi's eyes to go wide.

“Oh wow! That's yours? I thought the Kodora clan preferred knives, I wonder if I can handle it” she said enthusiastically, causing Tatsumi to blush, unable to ignore the double meaning of her words.

“Umm...Wha-” he started to say, before he raised his sword up in a defensive stance in order to block Naomi's attack.

“You just got a lot more interesting” Naomi said with a wink as she slashed at Tatsumi again, who was forced to block.

“You're indeed a worthy foe” Tatsumi said as he slashed forward parrying Naomi's latest attack. The two shinobi stood on the branch, their weapons clashing together causing a shower of sparks, till finally they both went in for a low strike and sliced the branch they were standing upon.

Tatsumi fell to the ground instantly, while Naomi hung in the air for a few seconds “...Well didn't see that coming” she finally said, before crashing to the ground.

Tatsumi climbed to his feet and glared at Naomi, who performed an Ukemi and landed gracefully on her feet “I can't believe you pushed me this far, but now I've got no choice but to use this move” Tatsumi said as he sheathed his sword and outstretched his left arm, while his right hand formed a seal.

“Take this!” he said as flames started to appear around his left hand “Shin Ryu Gunfire!” he yelled as a ball of fire was launched from his left hand, straight towards Naomi.

Naomi turned into a human-sized tornado, the transformation taking milliseconds, and now she stood dressed like a professional baseball player, bat in her right hand.

Naomi swung the bat as hard as she could, smashing the ball of fire with the wooden tool, and sending it straight back at Tatsumi.

Tatsumi didn't have time to react, and took the full force of the blast in the chest, causing him to fall backwards and hit the floor.

Naomi spun around, returning to her dress, and prepared to leave, that was until she heard Tatsumi groan.

“My eyes!” he cried pitifully “I'm blind”.

Naomi turned, and almost burst out laughing at what she saw, Tatsumi's red head band has slipped down and was now covering his eyes. There was however a good reason she wasn't laughing, the fireball had singed Tatsumi's shirt and the netting beneath it, exposing a surprisingly muscular chest.

Naomi's red eyes transformed into pink cartoon hearts for a split second as she gazed through the hole in the boy's clothes. She shook her head rapidly, sending her hair whipping this way and that, and returning her eyes to normal, before gaining a mischievous grin and zipping over to the distressed Tatsumi.

She put her left hand behind Tatsumi's head, her right hand landing on his chest, it certainly felt as good as it looked at least. “There, there, it's not permanent” Naomi said soothingly.

“It's...It's not?” Tatsumi asked cautiously.

“Yeah” Naomi whispered “In fact I know a special bit of ninjutsu that'll fix it right up, just hold still for a second” she told him.

“Well...Okay...I'll trust you...Not like you can make things worse” he muttered.

Naomi gained the biggest grin she'd ever had, and without warning she dived her head forward and pressed her lips against his, kissing him with a vigour that seemed more at home on the battlefield.

Tatsumi let out muffled cries, however Namoi didn't stop, or give an indication she was going to stop, although she did use her left hand to grip the back of Tatsumi's headband.

Finally, with a popping sound she broke off the kiss, pulling off the headband in the process. She looked down at Tatsumi who panted and blinked his eyes a few times “Hey” he said in between breaths “I can see again!”.

“I told you didn't I? You should be more trusting” Naomi said as she dropped the headband to the floor and turned to walk away.

“This doesn't change anything!” Tatsumi said as he grabbed his headband and and put it back on.

“Oh I know” Naomi replied “Come back any time you want cutie” she giggled “And maybe I'll let you have a souvenir, like mine” as she said that, Naomi lifted up her right hand, revealing a pair of boxers with the yin yang symbol printed on the fabric.

It took Tatsumi a second to work out what she meant, but then he noticed he felt a lot less...Constrained then he did before. Blushing furiously he placed his hands over his lower body “I'll get you back for this!” he yelled.

Naomi however was happy, even without this wonderful mask she'd found, things were a lot more interesting around here then she'd thought...She figured that soon she'd pay a visit to that Kodora village, maybe try a serenade.

Man, you'd think with a superpower that allows you to pull weapons out of hammerspace could manage to find a few twenties...

Love the byplay between the two of them, quite amusing.
